How much does it cost to charge my car at home?
If you were charging a car from empty to full and the range on the car is 250 miles. At a new average unit cost of electricity (October 2022) of £0.35 per unit. It will cost £25.90 to fuel a car for 250 miles.
If I buy an 11KW or 22KW home or office car charger UK, can I charge quicker than normal?
Most houses in the UK have a single-phase power supply. To access these higher charging speeds, you will need to have a three-phase power supply in your house. Unless you have a relatively large house, you will probably not have a three-phase supply, so you will be limited to installing a 7.4KW electric vehicle charger UK.
Why is my car less efficient in the winter?
During the winter months, the EV battery range is often reduced. A combination of factors primarily causes this, the first being EV batteries do not respond well to cold weather. Add to that the car heater or air conditioning is on too, and the range is consequently severely affected. You will see in very cold weather, the car’s range is reduced by anything up to 40%.
Can I claim a Workplace Grant for a new site or a recently installed charging point?
No, a new site under construction or previously installed or second-hand charge point will not be eligible for the Workplace Grant. Equally installations made prior to voucher approval will not be approved, applicants must apply for a voucher before any charge points are installed.
Can I financially charge staff or visitors for the electricity consumed by the EV?
Yes, all the electric vehicle chargers UK we install can be set to free to use or set for the usage to be paid for via credit card. Please ask for more details during your free on-site survey.
Can I use a Government Work Place Grant at home?
Yes, as long as the business address is the same as the home address subject to OZEV approval and conditions.
